I have a confession
I just had lunch!

I think it was good!?!?!

“What?” you ask. “You think it was good??? Are you suffering from short term memory loss? You JUST ate it!”

Well...I have a confession. As I took the last bite of my sandwich, I realized that I had been so focused on finishing some work while I was eating that I wasn’t at all focused on my food.

I didn’t notice the flavor or smell. Was it delicious? I don’t remember. What about the texture; was it crunchy, or soft? I don’t remember. I have no earthly idea how many times I chewed before I swallowed.

You should know something about me; I LOVE to eat! It’s one of my favorite activities. I LOVE bacon and bacon was involved in this meal. And yet…I didn’t give myself the opportunity to experience the meal.

It was a light bulb moment for me. Me…Susan Halaut…who teaches the importance of mindfulness and being present…lost an opportunity to be present and have an experience. It wasn’t a conscious decision. I was on auto-pilot. As someone who is also on a physical journey, creating a body that I am proud of, food is especially something I should be very mindful of. Enjoying and savoring my meal helps me feel satisfied and full, mindful chewing and tasting.

Oh my! Immediately I asked myself, what other things have I missed out on??? What other experiences have I not experienced fully or at all? I mean really…could I not allow myself 15 minutes to experience my meal?

How about you? Have you ever had an experience like this?

I was reminded of a recent FB post I saw about a daycare that posted this letter on their door before pickup…

Aside from being a food lover and a bacon lover, I am also a wife and mother. Looking back, I wonder, how many things did I miss out on because I was on auto-pilot. My food isn’t going to have any sort of “feelings” about my lack of focus, but what about my kids? What about my husband? What was I subconsciously telling them about their place in my life at that moment with my lack of focus?

Why did I feel the need to share this? Am I bashing, judging, criticizing?

No…not at all. I’m reaching out in love. I don’t want you to miss a moment of this amazing thing called LIFE. I don’t want you to miss that first smile or that first step or that bloom or the color of the leaves in the fall, or the art in the window. How many of you have seen people walking down the street with their heads in their cellphones? Are we so “busy” that we are letting beauty, experiences, people, relationships pass us right by?
What if that stranger that just smiled at you as you walked down the street is your soul mate…and you missed the connection?

What if the opportunity that you’ve been waiting for just passed you by because you were focused on something else?

AWARENESS…MINDFULNESS…BEING PRESENT…does it matter? You tell me.

About me...

My name is Susan Halaut and I am a mom of a blended family with 4 boys. In the beginning, life was a challenge. There were days when I didn’t want to go home after work. Home was not a safe harbor. Home was more like an emotional battleground. Driving home, I felt like I had to put on armor to prepare for the battle that awaited me when I walked in the door.

Have you ever felt like that? Do you feel like that now?

It was lonely. It was stressful. It was exhausting. It was defeating. It was everything my husband and I didn’t expect it to be when we first fell in love.

Today, our family is not perfect…but it has become a place where we (parents and kids) want to run to…not away from.

It is my mission to equip, empower and uplifting families with tools, techniques, tips and strategies that will transform their lives… healing their hearts, bringing peace to their storm and helping them to raise the children they are responsible for and become better leaders themselves.

I want to give parents freedom to know that while none of us are perfect parents, we can be effective parents.

I want to make a difference in this world by leaving a legacy where the next generation is a world filled with strong, powerful, authentic, purposeful families who are intentional about leading and guiding children into reaching their fullest potential.

What about you?

What if there was a light at the end of the tunnel?

How would your life be different?
- if you felt like your kids and partner listened to you
- if you could authentically connect with your stepchildren
- if you could effectively communicate with your ex and their partner
- if you could learn to parent together with your current partner
- if you learned to love and value yourself and find peace within

It's never too late to become a stronger family. It's never too late to empower yourself and your family to create the life your family deserves.

Let's work together to help you create a home where all members feel loved, valued, respected, connected and accepted.
